esprit de corps

MEANING:
noun: A spirit of solidarity; a sense of pride, devotion, and honor among the members of a group.

ETYMOLOGY:
From French esprit (spirit), de (of), corps (body, group).

I love French words.

-Thoughts-

I remember when I was so fascinated by how Matt traced veins on his arms...
Aha.

So yesterday we went to a New Year Eve's party, like every other year. I wish I could've gone to see fireworks, or something. I really want to be in Times Square to see the ball drop sometime in my life! At first I felt really awkward 'cause all the girls seemed to know each other and they were all much younger than me... but then I started talking to this girl who seemed like a bit of a loner and thus our adventures began. Like the other girls were talking about their boyfriends and crushes and school drama, and I thought they must be in middle school or something. BUT. It turns out they're only 5th and 6th graders!!! What?! :O Wow, I was kinda shocked there. I can't believe people have so much relationship drama stuff in 6th grade... I used to think 10 years old is really old though. I guess I still do. The girl I was talking to was 11, and she's a HUGE Panic At The Disco and Fall Out Boy fan. Everyone else was wearing Abercrombie and skinny jeans, and I might've spotted some makeup... On 6th grade girls. I don't really like girls wearing makeup that young, it's like... you don't need it! Goodness. And they all had high-tech phones, and everyone had an iTouch. Wow.... a few girls were just texting and going on Facebook the whole time. It's like, "You can do that at home... you're at a party, have fun?" Um... yeah. So the girl showed me some YouTube videos. Happy Tree Friends [thank goodness, no Salad Fingers... he's creeeeepy >.<], Fall Out Boy stuff, "Draw With Me" [sooo good.... it's an animation about this boy and girl who are separated by a glass wall -----> Clicky!] And then my mum walked in on us while she was showing me "Hollywood Whore" ~Papa Roach, there was blood everywhere in the video and it was embarrassing... aha.

So the girl whose house we were at turned 11! And her friends are soooo loud... just like screaming and making funny noises for no reason! So yeah, so me and the loner girl started walking around 'cause we didn't have anything better to do [everyone else went to the same school and were gossiping]. And we kept on bumping into this guy who was also walking around... turns out he's a freshman in high school. But he was playing table hockey with this really petite Korean girl and getting beat up by her, it was so funny x) She is vicious! And we were blasting music on people's iPods really loudly, except "Viva La Vida" kept on playing on repeat about 20 times... Eeeeeh. I got so tired of that song by the end of the night! So I put my iPod in and the guy wanted to listen to rap and rock stuff, so we were playing Green Day and stuff...

Then we watched the ball drop [it's only like 30 seconds of excitement...] and the adults started the longest poker game ever. I think there should be a Guiness World record for it or something. And everyone left except this small Chinese girl with pigtails and this really hyper, energetic Whasian girl. She's so funny. And people started drifting off to sleep but me and Claire [the Whasian girl] were determined not to [I can't anyway, I'm not sleeping over!]. So we started performing "Bohemian Rhapsody" like a drama, with all the funny voices and motions and stuff.... we were so loud that I don't think the other girls could sleep! Mission accomplished, aha. And then we started talking about her sisters who go to TJ [BOTH of them!] and philosophy, and how she writes poetry... She is so mature for a 10-year old... I never would have thought. So she was like, "I have a 3rd person voice, a fantasy voice, a poetry voice, and stuff..." So we actually had a pretty good conversation. Her older sister is so talented, by the way. Like wow... her voice, and she's so pretty! But yeah, and she was saying how guys at TJ try to outdo each other with asking girls to prom. She said her sister's boyfriend drove to TJ at midnight to put up a banner asking her to prom! Lol. Those kids :p And we started playing the Questions game, and talked about if we were guys, about how she thought roses were the perfect flower of love [she is SO metaphorical and was talking in poetry talk the whole time...] and we didn't fall asleep! It's so interesting to see different sides of people. Like before, she was SOOOO hyper [I really got scared] and she was mad 'cause she didn't save her top score on a game, and she started punching pillows and cursing and stuff. But then in that room, at like 3 in the morning, she was so thoughtful and philosophical... it's really a different, quiet side...

When my parents -finally- finished playing cards, it was 4:30 a.m.
I didn't sleep at all.
Happy 2010 everyone! :D

Make a wish! :D
[I actually stayed up until 11:11 p.m. to take this!]

-Thoughts-

Winter break is really flying by, although I've kind of settled into doing nothing productive and everything to waste it, it seems. I have the 1985 version of Alice in Wonderland next to me, as well as Marie Antoinette... I'm inclined to watch both of them now. I actually haven't had the time to finish the second half [yes, Alice Through The Looking Glass!] of the movie, so I really should... And I'm already dreaming of the beautiful Victorian costumes in Marie Antoinette. Speaking of which, the Miss Dior Chérie ad is probably one of the most beautiful ads ever made!!
[Clicky]

That embodies everything I'd want in a commericial!
Parisian, pretty colours, gorgeous scenery, balloons...

Anyways, good night for now!
Looking forward to more boredom tomorrow...
I think I'll bake some oatmeal-white-chocolate-chip-cranberry cookies.

My misery is so addictive

"Don't bend
Don't blink
Don't beg
Don't scream
Don't whine
Don't fight
Don't tell me, don't tell me, don't tell me

Don't feel
Don't tear
Don't kiss
Don't care
Don't touch
Don't want me, don't want me, don't want me

Something's so sick about this
My misery is so addictive
I'm halfway there with your Northshore from the floor singing to you over my shoulder

Don't run
Don't hide
Don't hurt
Don't lie
Don't breathe
Don't try
Don't find me, don't find me, don't find me

Don't cringe
Don't clench
Don't look
Don't flinch
Don't know
Don't go
Don't leave me, don't leave me, don't leave me

Something's so sick about this
My misery is so addictive
I'm halfway there with your Northshore from the floor singing to you over my shoulder

Don't sing
Don't talk
Don't yell
Don't laugh
Don't think
Don't speak
Don't save me, don't save me, don't save me

Don't stay
Don't plan
Don't heal
Don't mend
Don't take
Don't send
Don't love me, don't love me, don't love me

Something's so sick about this
My misery is so addictive
I'm halfway there with your Northshore from the floor singing to you over my shoulder."

"Northshore" ~Tegan & Sara [they're twins!!]

I've been looking at amazing photographers on DeviantArt [haven't checked there for the loooongest time...] and really nice fashion blogs...

Talk to me... I don't want the time to waste away and find myself a week later, winter break gone by, with nothing accomplished...

I think this year is more like... alot of small gifts making up a big one?
Like last year and the year before I got really big gifts, like an iPod or something.

I wish everyone a happy Christmas!!! :)

HAPPY SEVENTEENTH!

Happy birthday dear!!!
It's the first day of winter but of course, it's also your birthday :D
So now we're on the same level of oldness now, sorta?
I don't think you actually -feel- 17 until like... a year later though.

I hope you're doing something fun and that there will miraculously be snow!
If you were here, I'd probably bake some cupcakes for the occasion... aha.
Maybe you could eat some ice cream, 'cause it's never too cold for ice cream, right?
Supposedly there's bacon-and-eggs flavoured ice cream..... -pukes-
You have to teach me how to make ice cream from scratch someday. It sounds magical!

So I guess you're not "sweet 16" anymore but you know that song from "Sound of Music?" The "Sixteen Going On Seventeen" one! "I am sixteen, going on seventeen/I know that I'm naive/Bachelor dandies/Drinkers of brandies/What do I know of those?"

I wish you could see your present now, because I -think- you might like it, but you'll have to wait until your dad gets back...
La di la....
So I hope you know that you're a really amazing person, and that you're brilliant in every way... [Art- check. Writing- check. SAT-smart- check.]
Don't ever think you're not because that isn't true at all!
"And tonight we can truly say... together we're invincible!"
I had a dream yesterday that I was in a chatroom with some people and Joy or something, and she was like, "It's 8/3! Do you know why it's a special day?" and I was like, "Uuuh, no...." And Joy says, "It's been a year since the Yeos left!" and yeah, so maybe time goes by faster than we think?

I'm really happy that we can still talk and stuff despite how we're halfway across the world from each other...
It's at times like these that make me wonder at the invention of the Internet and telephones.
You, me,
we can be invincible FOREVER!
Made for you: http://www.polyvore.com/happy_birthday/set?id=14462753

Sincerely,
just a ghost :)

But last night was wild!

^"Ulysses" ~Franz Ferdinand

Mr. Snowman that me and my friend built during the last snowfall...

Today was a lovely day filled with madness!!
First of all- NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK!!!!
So winter break officially starts!!
Which is the way it should be!
And then we went Christmas shopping despite all the snow and ice...
There are miniature snow mountains everywhere, and the whiteness is so beautiful.
Except some of it turned to slush and some of the pureness is defiled by the dirt and is now an icky brown... bleh.
It kinda spoils the fun when you already know what all your Christmas gifts areee.... >.<

I think losing weight is such a funny concept.
Weight is defined as "the force that must be applied to an object in order to support it in a gravitational field." (Wikipedia)
So we're trying to lessen the hold of gravity on our bodies...? Aha x)
More like losing body mass...

Tomorrow is the first day of winter and also someone's birthday!! ;D

Ice Queen, c'est moi.

Every school day before winter break seems to never end...
I'm sick of tests and homework.
I just want to wear my tie-dye shirt and Muse necklace while freezing because I'm always always cold...
Who else wants to see "The Princess and the Frog"?
I'm anticipating a massive baking fest this weekend, 'cause the holidays are coming...
Winter is here.

"I'm tired of everyone I know,
of everyone I see
on the street
and on TV.

On the other side,
on the other side
nobody's waiting for me.
On the other side

I hate them all.
I hate them all.
I hate myself for hating them,
so I'll drink some more.
I love them all.
I'll drink even more.
I'll hate them even more
than I did before.

On the other side,
on the other side
nobody's waiting for me.
On the other side.

I remember when you came,
you taught me how to sing.
Now, it's seems so far away.
You taught me how to sing...

I'm tired of being so judgemental
of everyone
I will not go to sleep.
I will train my eyes to see
that my mind is as blind
as a branch on a tree.

On the other side,
on the other side.
I know what's waiting for me.
On the other side.
On the other side,
on the other side
I know you're waiting for me.
On the other side."

"Now it's three in the morning and
You're eating alone

Oh the heart beats in its cage

All our friends they're laughing at us
All of those you loved, you mistrust
Help me, I'm just not quite myself
Look around there's no one else left
I went to the concert and I fought through the crowd
Guess I got too excited when I thought you were around..."

Un, deux, trois, GO!

^TWIGGY!! :D I love her.

So.
I have started a new blog asides from A Cheshire Smile.

It's totally unknown and secret, unless you somehow find the link... :p
I feel like it's kind of an online journal [since I'm sometimes too lazy to write everything down in my paper journal], and it's mostly for venting and ranting about random and depressing stuff...
Please don't ask to see it, but the title is based on one of my post titles here...
...if anyone is that interested.

It's funny how something can exist on the Internet, open for everyone to see, yet it's totally obscure unless you find it?

I love that.
That's what StumbleUpon is for!

SNOW!!!

It's finally snowing!!!!!!
Like, white flurries and drops of magicness! :D
Yes yes yes!
I hope it continues to snow tomorrow so we can get out of school!

And I have a grand plan to bake 110 cupcakes to make a periodic table of cupcakes.
I may need some help.

http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2009/12/the-periodic-table-in-cupcake-form/
Isn't that AWESOME?!
I think I'm doing mine based on the different groups [alkali metals, noble gas, alkali earth, etc.] so there's a greater variety of pretty colours!

Whoa, squares!

Hoping for snow?

AP chem today seemed to drag on and on and on, and the clock seemed to be frozen in time...

I feel like everything is so close, yet so distant and faraway from me...
Winter break, Christmas, friends, tests...

By the way, check out this guy (yes, GUY!)'s Polyvore.

http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/profile?id=959146

He's pretty cool!

It's supposed to snow this weekend!!!!!! Let's do the snow dance, flush ice cubes down the toilet, and wear our pajamas inside out! [well, I only do the pajamas thing]

"Tomorrow night: Snow in the evening will give way to partly cloudy conditions overnight. Low around 30F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 90%. 1 to 2 inches of snow expected." -the latest from Yahoo! weather
