Dreams are free [expletive]

It's funny how they write [expletive] in newspapers for interviews in which someone curses...

Um.
I don't really want to blog anymore.
I'm bored.
Feeling a bit like another post I've written about... Déjà vu.
.

There's not enough time to do everything I want tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

...when you're bored, Polyvore is a good cure.

My feelings are more important than yours

Revamp!
Uuum.... I'm not sure this is how I meant for it to turn out when I started changing it!
I kinda wanted it to be black and everything is floating in it, like the Cheshire Cat's maniacal grin. It's certainly... darker than before.
But a change is needed, especially since it's A WEEK until the new Alice in Wonderland movie comes out! :D

*************************************************
Razor blade, that's what I call love
I bet you pick it up and mess around with it
If I put it down
It gets extremely complicated
Anything to forget everything

You got to take me out
At least once a week
Whether I'm in your arms
Or I'm at your feet
I know exactly what you're thinking
You won't say it now
But in your heart it's loud

Oh no, my feelings are more important than yours
Oh, drop dead, I don't care, I won't worry
There you go

Oh, the razor blade
Wish it would snap this rope
The world is in your hand
Or it's at your throat
At times it's not that complicated
Anything to forget everything

He would never talk
But he was not shy
She was a street-smart girl
But she could not lie
They were perfect for each other
Say it now
'Cause in your heart it's loud.

Ideas

So I've been thinking about some new blog ideas:

1) I have some friends who continually wear really cool jewellery [like I have an Earrings friend and a Rings friend]... so I've been thinking about making a blog dedicated to their style? Maybe? I'd have to remember to bring my camera all the time though...

2) A collection of beautiful people [in my opinion, at least]. But none of them will be celebrities, just my friends and/or other people who are pretty...

3) A music blog? Well... I don't discover -that- much cool music though >.<

In psychology class, I started thinking about characters with parts of their brain cut out... like the lateral hypothalamus. Or getting their amygdalas damaged and then being fearless in their life.

I don't even know.
Thoughts?

Double Approach-Avoidance Conflict

"Grounded, boxed in, I'm stuck with you..."

Stalkerness + potential friend + clingyness + extreme perseverance and dedication = a very odd friendship.

And now for some pictures!

Taken by my friend Cat during lunch! I love the macro setting... [THAT'S what it's called when one thing is in really sharp focus and everything else is blurry! I love it!]

Another lovely photo. Taken during French class by Cat as well.
Her stuff is so cute :3

A very...... special friend who goes by Rishi.
Those photos down are all taken by moi.

Smile! And she says those kitty ears don't look good on her...
Stephen Smiley, Type A.
Oh my gosh, those stereotypical character-types are so fun to read x]
"Nietzsche Wannabe."

I felt bad for taking photos of her in my dress... 'cause it was kinda cold. Actually, not as cold as usual, so maybe the weather was being nice to us. I love the look of girls wearing dresses in the winter though, especially when paired with snow. It's a nice contrast... I was gonna have her draw a heart.

Snow!

I was trying to go for the Mulan look... like the reflections?
"When will my reflection show who I am inside?"

And... a random picture of my nails.
I found these nail art stickers and put it on top of colour-changing nail polish...
they got all sticky and started peeling though >.<

Soaked

"Soaked to the bone
Sink like a stone
Walk home alone
It's not the first time, it's not the worst crime
Your soul will be okay

When you've had enough
Searching for love
And you miss the touch
Of someone new

Burns by dreams
It's never how it seems
Cold crushed esteem
Take shelter and hide forever
Your soul will be okay."

W-O-W!!

OH. MY. GOODNESS.
Is this guy awesome or what?? Just look at those newspaper leggings! That is like, mad creative.
It must be really hard to walk in those shoes with the wood planks on them, but way to make a fashion statement.
I like the tree branchy things near his head as well...
Did you know there's this clothing site that sells stuff entirely made out of tape? Like, prom dresses made out of colourful duct tape... and it actually looks pretty good. For tape, anyway! I really need to find that site.

People's creativity scares me. How do they come UP with this stuff??
I originally saw a post on this girl's blog [she's always posting awesome stuff on crazy and impossibly brilliant fashions]: click!

F A T CELLS

I am horrified.

Today in psychology, we started the motivation chapter and talked about what motivates us to eat.
Well, while talking about the biological/genetics behind it, my teacher said that every person is born with a certain number of fat cells. And when you can NEVER lose them. If you're born with 1,000,000 fat cells, when you die, you'll still have 1,000,000 fat cells. A normal person has about 30 billion fat cells to store energy in [wow, that's aLOT!]. When you lose weight, you're simply SHRINKING the size of the fat cells, you don't get rid of them.

Huh. I always thought that when you lose weight, you eliminate fat cells... common misconception, I guess. And it's way easier to gain weight than lose weight, of course.

"When you eat alot, your fat cell may expand and split into TWO! Now you're stuck with one more fat cell for the rest of your life."

Oh MY.
Isn't that disturbing?
I found it so sad that I didn't even eat lunch.
Thinking about those multiplying fat cells inside my body...
[but don't worry, I went home and ate some apples and yoghurt]

So now you know the truth about fat cells.
That was super-educational, wasn't it?
:]

All kinds of wonderful things

My first attempt to make donuts!
Which kinda turned out like bagels, since we didn't have a deep fryer [we baked them!].
Covered in strawberry frosting and rainbow nonpareils, they look perfectly delicious though :)

My mum made sushi. It looks quite good, doesn't it?

An Alice- in-Wonderland-inspired gift for my best friend's birthday. Inside is a scroll with her poem printed on it.

Wonderland

See the lines blur, the colors pale
And the towns fade away.
Let us go, escape the noise of the city.

Forget what you know,
What you are used to,
What you are comfortable with.
Yes, leave it all behind,
They are not part of you.

We would run into the woods,
Covering our bodies with morning dew
Filling our noses with fragrance
Flooding our eyes with misty green.

Down the rabbit hole we shall fall, fall, fall,
With no purpose but to fly,
Slowly but surely,
Into the unknown.

At the same time, we shall learn to let go:
Our memories, our pains, our fears.
And realize, once and for all,
Who we are without the backdrop,
And what we are when owning nothing but
A dream in our heads.

"Drink Me."
I should've put "Read Me," but then it wouldn't have made sense to put it in a bottle... aha.
I love message in a bottle type of things. Floating out to sea...

That's actually silver friendship bracelet string!

A cute comic from the Saturday morning newspaper.
I suppose this is more appropriate for Valentine's, so consider it belated!
"Maybe everything we've ever done has been for love."

"Don't you have the feeling," asked Madame Bovary, "that something happens to free your spirit in the presence of all that vastness? It raises up my soul to look at it, somehow. It makes me think of the infinite, and all kinds of wonderful things." ~p. 97

"Have you ever had the experience," Léon went on, "of running across in a book some vague idea you've had, some image that you realise has been lurking all the time in the back of your mind and now seems to express absolutely your most subtle feelings?" ~p. 99

Gustave Flaubert is a great, very descriptive writer... he goes into so much detail about the places that I can picture it extremely vividly. In that sense, he almost reminds me of Oscar Wilde [in "The Picture of Dorian Gray," at least!]. I think there's a movie version of Madame Bovary... Not sure if I want to see it, but I guess I should finish the book first. My friend already spoiled the ending and says Emma is a terrible heroine, but... we'll see!

Two days in one! [happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's!]

It's so coincidental that both Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day are on the same day this year. I think Chinese New Year overshadowed Valentine's a bit, which I think some people will be very happy about.

There's alot of bitterness towards Valentine's Day.
But... all you need is love, right?

So we went to Church for a potluck dinner. People should bring more fruits there, because I only got one clementine and by the time I went back, there were no more! But everyone was sitting in the room with the piano, and the drummer guy for praise team started playing all different piano songs. Everything ranging from classical to pop... Everyone started singing along to "Love Song" and "Do Re Mi" and it was so great. Too bad my best friend wasn't there, it's her birthday tomorrow.

The performances were really good too! There was this interview thing [in the spirit of Valentine's Day] where married couples had to see how well they knew each other. And the wife would write her answers and the husband was supposed to guess what she wrote. It was sooo funny, especially with some of the deacons and elders... "What's your strongest asset to the family?" "Hmm... weeeell, I have so many, it's hard to pick..." "Here's a hard one: when is your child's birthday?" "Uuuuh......" x]

There was also this skit performed by these two elderly grandmas, reminiscing about their childhood Chinese New Years'. And they put red paint [rouge] on their cheeks and forehead and ate lollipops and acted like little kids! It's really cool to see old people pretend to be children. It's like... they haven't lost that spirit, you know?

And then there were some unexpected perfomances by this guy who started breakdancing, and he was really good. Like... flips and cartwheels! And this girl wrote a song during dinner, which she performed [with her friend translating into Chinese after each line she sings! aha]. She has an amazing voice, so she'd be singing and right after, her friend would say the Chinese translation in a monotone voice... so amusing. And then this little boy started doing karate! We started joking that he'd be joining the 2020 Olympics and represent the U.S.

Finally was the skit we'd been all waiting for... by the youth group, of course! So it's based off the classic Chinese zodiac story, about how the zodiac order was determined on which animal met the god at the mountain. Except it was a race. And everyone dressed up like the animals! My friend [the tiger] had on face paint and wore a shredded orange shirt over a black one to simulate tiger stripes x] And his sister played the monkey, she was the only animal registered at the race and all the other animals kept dropping out! For example, the tiger shows up with a KFC box and is like, "Oh yeah, the chicken won't be showing up this year... or the year after that..." Aha. Poor chicken! And then the rabbit [drummer guy!] comes in and is like, "Gosh, I just finishing racing with the tortoise, I can't believe I overslept AGAIN!" But in the race, of course the rabbit oversleeps once more [does he ever learn?] and the monkey trips over the sleeping rabbit. So the tiger wins the race [but of course, since it's the year of the tiger!]!

All in all, super-fun night :)
And no school tomorrow, again!
It doesn't even come as a surprise now...

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day and/or Chinese New Year?

Innocence

"To be, or not to be.
Is that truly the question
of which we must really answer?
Or to take from the aimless contemplations
of an inquisitive mind:
Is it to know, or not to know?
Such a blind faith
to such an accidental love--
yet to not know, is,
not quite an issue of ignorance,
but of innocence
and the world to learn.
Broken paper hearts of
edgeless fissures and blurred porcelain pieces,
but with innumerable possibilities
and so we start anew.
Shy smiles, second first kisses,
muddy hand-prints and
sunshine finger-paints--
an undying cycle of
chubby fingers and a humble glue stick,
putting the oh so endearing, Humpty Dumpty
back together again.

When were our minds
corrupted with such realities...
such false truths?"

A lovely poem I found here: click to read the original post!
[by the talented Eugenie]
Please check out her poetry, it is amazing and so inspiring... I love her choice of words to describe certain things, and the images she can conjure in your mind...
I like how her blog name is a quote from "The Little Prince."
"
Mais les yeux sont aveugles. Il faut chercher avec le cœur."
Et en français aussi!

Yeah, I made a bunch of YYYs sets today.

Did you know Karen O. was half Korean and half Polish?

We'll miss you

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen!
His fashions are so beautiful...

I heard that Christian Lacroix also died recently? [oh, actually May 2009. But still relatively recent]
I remember seeing his neon-coloured confections on this Chinese fashion show once and being completely mesmerised...

It seems like so many famous people have passed away in the past year.
Or just recently [J.D. Salinger?]...

Let it burn

I really liked this book...
I think it's a perfect connection for my AP lang class, it's very similar to 1984 in some aspects.

A future without reading and books would be terrible though.
I thought Clarisse was a great character but she disappeared very quickly...
The Mechanical Hound sounds sooo frightening... silver needles? Injecting heroin? Hmm... not.
So apparently there's a movie version, but it's not that good [like a lot of novel-turned-movies....].
I love the interview and afterword stuff, Ray Bradbury says "his subconscious" named the characters Montag and Faber. Montag is actually a paper company brand and Faber is the pencil brand... aha. In a book about banning books. And it's so cool how he "let the characters control everything..." I would love for my characters to tell the story... except I don't have a story or any good ideas.

Oh, I saw the Brave New World movie trailer.
It's the funniest thing!! Soma is in liquid IV packs and everything looks like New York City [I suppose it seemed futuristic then...], and the socialising is like a disco! Flash flash glitter sparkle.

I leave you with a few links!

-Fat Ugly Trolls [Watch out for a random L appearance at the end!] My friend thought this connected to the brainwashing of 1984...

-Be in a music video! They update it every hour, and all you need is a webcam to be in it!

-T-shirt wars. Amazing stop-motion animation!

Veggies are good for you

Bored to death and succumbing to this weird thing called Formspring :p
Basically like an anonymous question box.

Of course, I discovered it through Polyvore... [http://www.polyvore.com/time/set?id=15895860]

http://www.formspring.me/appleadaygirl

Go for it!

Everything is adding up, up, uuuup

Making my escape
Making my escape
Tell myself that
Everything's in shape
Everything's in shape
But me
How long can this take
How long can this take
Tell myself that
Everything is great
Everything is great
Well how'm I doing?

I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
While everything is adding
Up, up, up
Everything is adding
Up, up, up

Breaking both my hands
Breaking both my hands
Telling me to
Take it like a man
Take it like a man
I can't
I don't understand
I don't understand
Please repeat whatever you just said
Nothing's making sense
Well how'm I doing?

I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
While everything is adding
Up, up, up
Everything is adding
Up, up, up

They're breaking both my hands
They're breaking both my hands
And telling me to
Take it like a man
And take it like a man
Well fuck that
I don't understand
Said I don't understand
So please repeat whatever you just said
'cause nothing's making sense
Well how'm I doing?

I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
I gotta great idea
I'm gonna wait right here
While everything is adding
Up, up, up
Everything is adding
Up, up, up

Some lovely photos of the snow...

I like the rainbowness against the white snow :)
There's a brigher picture... but I need to find it.

Our neighbour's poor tree!
Truly a snowy scene...

My mum's reflection! I took this near our window and the light reflected from the kitchen got captured in the shot.

I thought the half-circle atop the mailbox was funny... and then the glow of the streetlamp.

Shadows.

I LOVE ICE PICTURES.
End of story!!
For some reason, only this person's house had really cool icicles :D
I got really excited...
It's so icy and intricate and crystalline! Frozen H2O, aha.

Sunset. It doesn't look snowy at all, does it?

Again with the iiiiceeee.

My favourite!
The sunlight casts such a pretty glow on the tree branches... and the snow kinda looks like dewdrops...
